The Roots

  1. No client conflicts. Our goal is simple: help clients sell more and make more. Period. Some agencies mask conflicts with shell companies or other tactics. We keep it simple: we don’t go there. It’s the right thing to do, that’s how we roll.
  2. Honor great marketing, strategy and ideas. We love a good idea or tactic, but great marketing is bigger. It’s all encompassing around the strategy. That is what we deliver.
  3. Operate with integrity and passionate points of view.Henry Ford said it best: “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking”. We are passionate about this business and provide strong points of view and opinions based on our experience. Looking for “Yes Men”? We’re probably not a good fit.
  4. If the work doesn’t pass inspection, it’s not released. We’re specialists. We firmly believe to never settle for mediocre execution. We also know about deadlines, so we’ll always have a contingency plan if needed. We won’t leave you hanging.
  5. Dedicate efforts to current clients first, last and always: Do that, more will come. This is probably the most counter idea in the agency world, but we focus on servicing clients first and don’t worry about new business. When we do well with what we have, more business comes organically. So far, so good. It’s working.
  6. Nurture relationships. Avoid one-night stands. If a client historically switches agencies frequently, it’s probably not a good fit for us. We’re the classy girl at prom, looking for a long-term relationship with the right partner…not interested in a one-night stand. Effective marketing is based on trust-based relationships, not random encounters.
  7. Develop ideas with the customer in mind, not the client’s wife. Big one. We always keep the consumer front and center when developing marketing strategy, tactics and measurement criteria. Marketing communications can be subjective, so we focus on the objectives. Everyone loves cute monkeys, but sometimes they don’t make marketing sense.
  8. No client surprises. None. We’re transparent, especially when it comes to budget. Client signs off on estimate; we deliver in spades and invoice. Period.
  9. Original ideas based on strategy is what we do. Ideas are the currency of our business. That’s the hard part that we do best. It’s ok to look at others work for inspiration, but that’s it. We’re the custom shop, not the assembly line.
  10. Develop a best-in-class cost/value relationship for the products and services we offer. Our biggest selling point is the Cypress structure allows clients access to top tier marketing experts to help grow business. Reasonable retainer, no media commissions, you pay for what is needed to do the job. No jets, big office campuses, and other unneeded overhead. Welcome to the new model… the unagency agency.
